Localization Manager Overview

Use the localization manager to create and view localization jobs on maps. You can create numerous localization jobs for one map. In each localization job, you can add one or more locales, that is, target languages.

Localization Manager

The localization manager sorts localization jobs into two tabs: the Localization Jobs in Progress tab and the Available Localizations tab. The localization manager also shows localization jobs that are marked complete.

The localization manager consists of three areas.

Localization Jobs in Progress Tab

In the localization manager, you can view an overview and details of each localization job.

The overview provides information about the localization job number, the locales selected for the job, the type of localization package, information about the manager, and the creation date for the localization job. Here is an example overview of two localization jobs.

# (Number)
The automatically assigned number of the localization job. This helps you quickly identify the correct localization job, for example, when uploading localized package to easyDITA.
Target languages selected for the localization job. For each localization job, there must be at least one locale selected.
The Type of localization package selected for the localization job. By default, you can create an XLIFF Package, a Source Package, a Media Package, or an XTM Package.
Information about the person responsible for the localization job. Usually this field contains an email address.
Created Date
The date and time at which the localization job was created.

Localization Jobs

When you click a localization job, you see its details, including project notes and status of resources. From this view, you can also perform actions related to this localization job, including downloading the localization package, uploading localized content, marking the job complete, or canceling the job.

Project Notes
Information about the project. Usually used to provide information for the localization provider.
Status of Resources
Information about the status of the localized version of a file. There are three types of statuses: Current, Out of Date, and Unavailable.

Current indicates that the localized version of a file was successfully uploaded into easyDITA and the localization is up-to-date.

Out of Date indicates that the localized version of the file is not current because the source language file was modified since localization was last uploaded. In other words, the Out of Date status indicates the file requires a new localization.

Unavailable indicates that the localized version of the file has not been loaded into easyDITA, or the content has never been localized to that language.

download localization package
Downloads a ZIP package containing all files related to the localization job. The ZIP package is sent to a localization provider for localization.
Upload Localized Content
Enables you to upload a ZIP package you received from your localization provider after they finish localizing your content.
mark job complete
Moves your localization job to the Completed Localization Jobs section, where your localization job is kept as an uneditable record. This action cannot be undone.
Cancel Job

Localization Job Resources

When you click show resources , you see the list of all files included in your localization job along with their status and other information.

Total Blocks
Provides information about the total number of block elements that require localization. Block elements are elements that start from a new line, for example, a paragraph.
Unmatched Blocks
Provides information about how many of the total blocks are not yet uploaded to easyDITA.
Unmatched Characters
Provides information about how many characters are not yet uploaded to easyDITA. It also tells us how many characters in total require localization, which may be useful information for estimating localization costs.

Language Code Table

From easyDITA, you can localize your content to numerous locales, that is target languages. You select locales when you create a localization job. Here is a list of all locales available by default in easyDITA.
Note: The list of available locales may vary depending on your configuration.
